An Audubon Signature Sanctuary

 

Orchid Island's Membership supports environmental stewardship and understands the importance of protecting the natural environment and wildlife that enhance our beautiful community and unique lifestyle.

In 2006, Orchid Island achieved the distinction of becoming a certified Audubon cooperative sanctuary by the Audubon International Sanctuary System, the Educations Division of Audubon International, which recognizes environmental stewardship.  To reach certification, the golf course and Club demonstrated that it maintains a high degree of environmental quality in the following categories: Environmental Planning, Wildlife & Habitat Management, Outreach and Education, Chemical Use Reduction and Safety, Water Conservation and Water Quality Management.

The sights and sounds that greet us daily are just another reminder that - There will never be another Orchid Island - and our commitment is to keep it this way for generations to come.
